I cant help feeling The Edge was a bit out of his depth with these two geniuses

Was interesting to hear his music without the wah wah pedal so to speak

To me it's difficult to compare Page and The Edge as they have a completely different style that suits the band they are in. The Edge's background is also different as he is from a post punk background where being technically brilliant wasn't necessarily what was required.

I suppose also Jimmy Page was to a large extent the focal point in Led Zeppelin whereas The Edge is more often than not playing second fiddle to Bono.

As guitarists go I've never thought the Edge up there with the better guitarists. Jack Black has so much ability I love watching him.

Matt Bellamy is quality in my opinion as is Tom Morello.

Ha!

I must say, even though I have largely tired of the widdly.shreddy end of guitar playing, I do retain some affection for our fat Swedish friend. Although he never stopped playing far too many notes, he does have a real feel and personality in his playing that comes over despite the tsunami of notes.

This, of course, is his best video ever.

Like all 3 guitarists, like to see Johnny Marr, Bernard Butler and Johnny Greenwood work together, that would be interesting.

watched it again and noticed the relationship The Edge has with his roadie...its a bit like servant isnt it?

and when the three are jamming, dont you think The Edge looks nervous?

IMO Bellamy is a far more accomplished guitarist than The Edge. Technically he is right up there.

Perhaps they should go without Bono...... what an absolutely outstanding piece of music... especially from 3:10 onwards

I like Matt Bellamy. I saw Muse right at the beginning when they did one of those NME showcase nights at the Astoria in 2000. they were supporting another blinding band Ash, it wasn't a surprise to see them do so well. here's a track from the night

Interesting chaps. I like the description of the Edge as a sonic guitarist with all his bit and bobs at his feet, probably make a good tap dancer. Slightly off topic but wondered what your thought were of the chap from Muse. He's pretty much into his effects.

Oh and I don't by into the less is more when playing, like my fat namesake the more notes you can widdle out in a solo the better ;-)

Let's just say I have worked, and sometimes still work, in the music business. My "comical" pseudonym must remain.
